Just a warning that while there is romance, there’s not very much. The fireworks scene in this show is adorable. I haven’t seen it so I can’t comment but I bet it’s good.

Kurosagi spawned a movie this year, with the complete cast returning. Plus, you don’t want to miss out on one moment of Yamapi in his different disguises.
#Yamashita tomohisa kurosagi series
While it is true that this series revolves around angst, it’s never the kind that annoys you so much that you feel the need to fast forward. Yukari really is an annoying character you love to hate and their relationship is complicated and real. Tsurara and Yukari (Ichikawa Yui) begin as best friends and quickly turn to love rivals, even if Tsurara isn’t really aware of it. Yoshikawa Tsurara/Mishima Yukari: Nothing like a stereotypical love/hate girlfriend relationship. Neither cares for each other but continue to go back to each other, in a weird, symbiotic relationship. Kurosaki/Katsuragi: What’s an angsty series without a man who trusts a man he shouldn’t? Kurosaki swears he will one day kill Katsuragi (Yamazaki Tsutomu) and Katsuragi gives Kurosaki the names of swindlers to go after. It’s a heartbreaking, intense, and draws the viewer in from their first train-track, Elvis-esque meeting. Kurosaki doesn’t want to hurt her and Tsurara just wants to save him. Yamapi and Maki have great chemistry and it shines moreso here than it got a chance to in Nobuta. Kurosaki/Yoshikawa Tsurara: Their relationship is really what drives the series. There was spunk and life in her that was missing in other parts of the series. Admittedly he character is a little worn by the end of the series (how many times can she say he’s wrong and the law’s right? A lot) but I adored her character. Yoshikawa Tsurara: I had a hard time believing that Nobuta!Maki and Kurosagi!Maki were the same girl. All in all, Kurosaki was a leading man you could root for. He was angsty in a kind of deadpan way, yes, but he was actually fun to watch in all his disguises and he has great chemistry with Maki.

Now, I wouldn’t say that Yamapi is the best actor in the world, far from it, but his Kurosaki was actually endearing. From quirky friend to angsty leading man was a jump but somehow, he pulled it off. Kurosaki: I saw Kurosagi right after I had finished Nobuta so that was quite the transition for Yamapi. Tsurara is the antithesis of Kurosaki, a woman who believes in the power of the law over everything and disapproves of Kurosaki’s way of life.Īnd I’m sure you can guess where that’s going to go. When the series opens, there’s a new intrusion on Kurosaki’s life: a law student named Yoshikawa Tsurara (Horikita). Due to a swindle, Kurosaki lost his family when he was in high school and has thus devoted his life to swindling swindlers. This Kurosagi is our titular character, a boy actually named Kurosaki (Yamashita). There are three kind of swindlers in the world, the opening will tell you: Shirosagi or “White Swindlers” who cheat you through business deals and the like, Akasagi or “Red Swindlers” who cheat you through fake love affairs, and the legendary Kurosagi or “Black Swindler” who cheats other swindlers out of their money. I can honestly say that Kurosagi is where I learned my now vast vocabulary of Japanese words relating to swindling. Theme Song: Daite Senorita – Yamashita Tomohisa Main Cast: Yamashita Tomohisa, Horikita Maki
